Here is what I did for 4th grade recorders:
The students at my school learn recorder karate and compete to earn up to a black belt.
I bought paper plates and indicated which color for each belt.
Then I printed out the graphics for boys and girls, and after writing their name, they can move their person to whatever belt they have earned.
I put a small hairband around the bottom of their recorder so they can tie the string for their belts. Then they could keep it when we are done.
